It doesn’t rain often here in Southern California, but when it does, there’s nothing like a good rain boot to keep your feet warm and your toes dry. Especially when it’s raining outside and I’m headed to yoga–that happens to me way too often! When I was on the search, I looked for a boot that was lightweight, sleek in design and made of conflict free rubber (yes that’s a thing). That’s when I met Alice + Whittles, a truly eco friendly, sustainable rain boot.
Alice + Whittles designs and develops rain boots for the global citizen. Each project and idea embodies the highest aesthetic and ethical principles – design simplicity, ethical craftsmanship and the careful use of sustainable materials. The company makes sure that they are completely transparent at every step of their supply chain.
The Review
Minimalist Spring Rain Boot in Dusk – 9/10
Alice and Whittles suggests that you order a full size up. I’m a 7.5 and since they don’t carry half sizes, I decided to move forward with a size 8. When I received them, they fit exactly perfect, if I had ordered the 8.5 I think the boots would have been too loose.
I lived in these boots as much as I could for a month!
Because it doesn’t rain much in Southern California, I am limited on the amount of times I can wear rain boots. I was able to take these on a couple of rainy walks, to the snow, and on the way to yoga. I went on a couple of long walks in these boots (2+ miles) and I never felt an ounce of discomfort. Next, Josh and I decided to go up to Big Bear to see the snow and even though these boots aren’t meant for the snow, I decided to wear them up and my feet stayed dry the entire time. My feet got a little cold, but it’s understandable because rain boots are not meant to be snow boots, duh!
It was my choice to wear these boots as much as possible because I love how minimalistic and cute they are. The competitor would be the Hunter Boots, but I don’t like how bulky their ankle boots look. My Alice + Whittles boots look timeless and that’s what I’m looking for because I’m expecting these to last for years and years.
The only reason I ranked these boots a 9/10 are because they are so lightweight they form to my feet almost like a sock would, so they take a little extra effort to remove, not the best for slipping on and off quickly, but that could be because I only went up a half size instead of the full suggested size.
My favorite Alice + Whittles, use code SLOWFASHION for $15 off a pair of your own:
