Why we should all recycle? Well, plastic can be recycled 7-9 times before it’s unusable! Wake up world! Sustainability is becoming the norm. Have you noticed that there are so many amazing products coming out that are made from recycled plastic? If we could replace every single one of our lifestyle necessities with a recycled version and then recycle it all over again, we could move mountains people, mountains and mountains of plastic out of our landfills.
Here is a list of closet staples that you won’t believe are not virgin plastic:
Sunglasses | Pala Eyewear
Technically made from recycled acetate! Pala donates to grants that fund eye-care projects in Africa. The company’s glasses cases are also weaved from melted down plastic by traditional and local weavers they employ in Africa. This gives the weavers a regular income.
Puffer Jacket | Everlane
I never needed a puffer until this winter. Everlane has come out with an entire collection of winter-wear made out of recycled plastic! The company vows that their entire supply chain be rid of all new plastic
Pointed Flats | Rothy’s
These are the chicest flats to slip on for the office, an event or to yoga! The flats are 3D knit out of recycled plastic yarn. There’s not an occasion that I can’t imagine wearing these for, so they pay for themselves. They can also be thrown in the washer and they’re like brand new again.
Swimwear | Saltwater Collective
I first learned about Econyl last summer. Econyl is regenerated nylon typically sources from old fishnets and more! Saltwater collective has a suit for every body-type. For my boho babes, the suits from Arnhem are also fun and made from the same regenerated nylon.
Suitcase | Samsonite
The fabric on this suitcase including the lining is made 100% from post consumer plastic. You cannot tell the difference between this suitcase and their other non-recycled plastic suitcases.
Workout Gear | Girlfriend Collective
Same concept here! Fabric made from recycled plastic. I feel as though I need to add that I’ve been wearing Girlfriend since they launched a few years ago and they tell the truth when they say their pieces are sheer proof. I have one of the original pairs and I am just thinking of replacing them now.
Sorry Kermit, it’s getting easy being green.
