11 Eco-Conscious Places to Shop for Work Clothes

So many of us work five days a week from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m., I do. Most of the time my clients are physicians, so I need to look sharp and professional every day. Realistically, I live in business casual or business professional clothing 70% of the time. Who says sustainable has to be granola? It is possible to be sustainable and stylish in business casual clothing! Here are 11 eco-conscious places to shop for work.

11 Eco-Conscious Places to Shop for Work

1. Frank and Oak

A company that is in sustainable transition. Their garments are ethically made, but not everything is made from sustainable materials. Their “wear to work” collection is perfect for professional dressing. Much of their pieces are made from organic cotton, tencel and modal.

2. Everlane

I always recommend wearing silk underneath blazers to keep cool. Everlane has a great selection of silk pieces, with sleeves and without sleeves. Basics pieces that are appropriate for work can be found here.

3. Amour Vert

A great place for feminine work attire. Using sustainable materials, 97% of their items are made local in San Francisco. There’s also a location that’s local in Newport Beach!

4. Kestan

Also local, in Costa Mesa, CA. Kestan makes their clothes from eco-friendly fibers and are transparent on who and where their products are made from.

5. People Tree

Another great place for feminine work attire. They are Fair Trade Certified and make many of their pieces from organic cotton.

6. Raven + Lily

Beautiful pieces! A little bit on the business casual side and more of an investment, but the company’s practices are ethical and their pieces are very stylish.

7. Sezane

My work style is a little bit bohemian. I’ve found that the shirts at Sezane, look great with tapered pants. They have a Parisian look which will be in style for the next couple of years.

8. Eileen Fisher

Style is similar to Everlane, but more elevated. For a business look that is effortless and clean.

9. Fisher Renew

If Eileen Fisher cannot fit in the budget. The renew collection features restored or gently worn Eileen Fisher pieces that need a new home.

10. Grana

Grana has some nice pieces from natural fabrics including: silk, linen, cashmere, denim and pima cotton.

11. H&M Conscious

The H&M Conscious collection can be shopped in stores, and much of it is appropriate for work and is budget friendly. There is a good selection of professional pieces for a fair price.
