Skyspace LA

Skyspace LA

Josh surprised me with a  trip to Skyspace LA, which just opened a few weeks ago. I was shocked he planned this because of his major fear of heights, but I guess love makes you do the craziest things right? 😉

Here’s a few tips and tricks to help you plan your time at the Skyspace!

  1. Buy tickets ahead of time, you can purchase them here on the Skyspace LA website.
  2. Buy a general admission ticket and a slide ticket – the Skyslide DOES NOT come with general admission. I definitely recommend doing the slide, when else can you ride a slide 1,000 feet above ground?
  3. Try to buy tickets to an earlier time – Our time slot was noon, and there was like no one there, almost like VIP treatment really. This is why I got to take so many photos!
  4. Take your time going up, there a ton of art installations that are actually so cool to look at and play with.
  5. You can only ride the slide once – so plan ahead for any video/photo opportunities you want to do.
  6. There are two observation decks, one is more crowded than another.

While you’re in the area, you might as well make reservations for lunch/dinner at these really cool spots not even a mile from the Skyspace LA.

  • Perch – if you like high places, you can overlook LA here while dining on amazing food.
  • Mrs. Fish – A lounge under Perch. If you’re visiting at night, this place always had good music and is a giant fish tank!
  • Bottega Louie – Only the home of the tastiest macarons and other french goodies.
  • Bestia – I splurge when I come here, but then again besides Japanese, Italian food IS my favorite!

Inspiration for my beach wedding

Inspiration for my beach wedding

Josh and I are getting married in Oahu, Hawaii on a private estate on the west side of the island called Lanikuhonua (meaning: “where the heaven meets the earth” in Hawaiian).

It’s hard to plan a wedding a 5 hour flight away, so I have to use my imagination a lot while planning. The picture in my mind though, is a simple drift wood arch with white flowers and a lot of green that is native to Hawaii. There are a lot of trees, so I don’t need to do too much in decor. Just simple dark woods, and elements of the ocean, like driftwood, coral and large balloons spread out randomly to mimic bubbles in the ocean.

Wedding Inspiration 2

I have been following these amazing destination weddings on Green Wedding Shoes for some more inspiration.

Hawaiian WatercolorWedding  – I love the water color details and her water color cake!

Bohemian 70’s Style Hawaii Wedding – The wedding of C’s style inspiration, Cologne, the co-founder of Show Me Your Mumu.

Boho Oahu Wedding – I love the natural greenery and plants that Alana  uses and the men’s Hawaiian shirts!

Are you engaged too? Have you found any other resources you’d like to share? At this point I’m up for all of your ideas!

xx always,

Yoga & Lattes

Yoga & Lattes

We’re back! And alive for the most part, if you followed along on SnapChat you would have seen it was Shae’s bachelorette weekend! The reason why we were M.I.A. So we’re starting off our week on a Tuesday with your favorite Yoga & Lattes.

What are your work out routines, both of you?

Shae – Right now I have one goal: to be in the best shape for my wedding. I’ve switched from just doing cardio and Yoga to the oh so popular BBG by Kayla Itsines! I started in January and lost 4 pounds already. I was lazy about it though and didn’t incorporate a lot of the routine that I should have, so I’m restarting it with wedding bod on the mind :).

C – Until a few weeks ago, my workout routine has been to eat all the food – a lot of Chick-fil-a, pizza and ice cream – whenever I felt like it and stay super duper busy so I would never work out and sometimes get so wrapped up in taking care of other people that I would forget to feed myself. It started catching up with me (boo!) at the beginning of this year, so I’ve started to pre-cleanse and get some cardio in when I can! I’ve discovered that I love running as long as it feels like exploring: which means finding new trails and routes every time. It’s really fun and I love the feeling of being sore the next day.

Have you ever tried a juice cleanse?

Have you ever tried a juice cleanse?

Shae – I did once in college, but it left me poor and starving! Some times if I’m eating terribly (like craving Chick-fil-a) I do what I like to call a smoothie reset, where I have 5-6 smoothies a day for a couple of days. I find that I don’t crave the things I used to and my body can reset itself.
C- Nope! I know my body type – and this girl needs her high-proteins and complex carbs. I am planning on doing a cleanse that will only last a couple of days and will be supplemented with lots of soaked seeds and nuts. I can not stress the amount of preparation that is going into this though. I’ve been pre-cleansing for almost a month now and I am definitely feeling the effects. Basically, the pre-cleanse is to wean you of addictions like sugar, caffeine, alcohol, unhealthy foods, etc so that your body doesn’t go into shock and you don’t want to die while you do the juice cleanse. I’m excited to see what these next few weeks bring & I’ll let you know how it goes!
BTW: These lattes are brought to you from this past weekend’s festivities. After a night of fun there was no better way to rejuvenate than with the mint mojito iced coffee from Philz Coffee. YUM!

Street Wear – Casual Bodycon Dress

Street Wear – Casual Bodycon Dress

The other day I struck up conversation with my mail man and found out that Zara has a distribution warehouse in Redlands! Which means next day delivery along with the free shipping and returns they already offer. Naturally after knowing this, I moseyed on over to their website and found this cute bodycon dress for only $20 that I am wearing pretty much whenever I can.

Just last weekend when we “staycationed” in Pasadena, all I brought was this dress and it made for two really great outfits!

On the first day I tied on a t-shirt over it and put on my Converse because I knew we’d be doing a lot of walking around.

On the second day I put on the same bodycon dress, but tied a flannel around my waist. I added a leather jacket too because it’s still cold in the mornings! The two looks are totally different, but so simple to put together. Now you try!

On a side note, I’m headed back to NorCal this weekend to visit C, catch up with girlfriends and my crazy awesome Momma for mother’s day! We may be M.I.A.
