I’m bringing it back! My advice column for all of the questions I get, tips I get from other people, ramblings, new experiences, new music, apps to download, basically all of the things you’d discuss with me if we went out for Yoga and Lattes.
What is the best “good for you” self-tanner?
Self tanner still has a lot of chemicals in it, but these are my favorite cleaner brands that have organic ingredients in order of best, to good (I wouldn’t put something I don’t recommend here on my blog).
Vita Liberata Tan Water + Applicator
This combo is the winner for me! I get “medium-dark” and the tan is the most natural tan I’ve experienced. PLEASE use an applicator and not your hands, because this product is potent. I mistakenly put it on my knees, elbows and ankles even though it warns you not to–the warning is definitely legitimate.
Eco Tan Mousse
This one is also great, but I like the color of the Vita Liberata on my skin tone.
Coola Face Tan
I love this because it is a gradual face tanner. I like to put it on before I go to bed so I wake up with a sun kissed glow. It’s nice if you don’t like to wear foundation, but need to even out your skin tone.
My lips get super chapped, they crack and peel and I feel like I’ve tried everything to keep them soft and plump, are there any remedies?
My lips were chapped and peeling all year long until I found these.
How is long distance going?
We’ve been long distance for 7 months now. The first 3 months were amazing. I was hanging out with friends on weekdays again, able to focus on my new job without worrying about cooking or someone to come home to (except for PJ) and trying out so many workout classes that Josh would absolutely hate! It was like being single again and was a blast.
Month 4 was hard because we both started traveling and I needed to find PJ a sitter. I actually used Rover for the first time by the way and had a great experience with it!
Fast forward to now, I really miss just being with him every day and having his company. Weekends go by way too fast, and there are so many little inefficiencies in living apart! I hadn’t realized how our lives had become so intertwined being married, not having Josh is like missing half of my home.
Thoughts on coconut oil as a beauty product?
Last month I received coconut oil in a tube to use as a beauty product and gave it a try. I like coconut oil better with my food, because I found it difficult to wash out of my hair (maybe not use it as a hair mask), and found my skin wasn’t sucking it up as a moisturizer. I’m only one person, so here are some other uses and tips that I got from some of you on social media:
- [As a face wash/moisturizer] Incredibly pore clogging FYI!!!
- [For face and hair] No coconut oil in your hair if you have hard water!
- It’s a great shaving cream, but it makes the bath tub slippery lol
- Put some in your Thai Curry –I actually do this and it’s so good!
- It’s a great makeup remover
- Just a moisturizer once or twice a week. Really great on dry arms and legs
Things I have learned over the past month:
- Throw your husband a 30th birthday party even if he says it isn’t necessary–I’m now trying to rectify the situation.
- Always take your birthday off of work and it’s the perfect day to go to the spa (the discounts).
- The Enneagram – it has blown my mind and if you haven’t heard of it look into it right now (I’m a 7, what are you!?).
xo,
